Gala and Well Dressing 2010
The theme for this year’s gala was ‘Food glorious food’ which was reflected in the beautiful well dressing at the bottom of the drive. The children of the Fun Club made two scare crows to show a modern take on the ‘Loaves and Fishes’. A good crowd turned out for the service to bless the well which was led by Rev Richard Towle and Father Burke with the music provided by children from the village school.

70th Anniversary Celebrations

On 3rd May 2009 we celebrated our 70th anniversary with a special service and lunch. The service was led by our present minister Rev Rose Bartleson, former ministers and members of the congregation also took part. Children from the primary school with connections to the church sang under the guidence of our organist Andrea Wright. Members of the congregation, past and present, shared their memories of the church. After the service a wonderful buffet lunch was shared in the church hall and many more memories exchanged with old friends. In the afternoon we were treated to a very entertainmenting puppet show by a group from All Saints Church in Sheffield.

Barn Dance

Our Barn Dance in March was a great success. We danced to the music of 'Just what the Doctor Ordered' with Margaret calling the steps. We did not get completly confused too often and ended the evening happy but exhausted. Thanks to Jane for organising the evening.

Crib Festival and Posada

Our Crib Festival was held in conjunction with our Christmas coffee morning at the beginning of Advent. The church was decorated with cribs and nativity scenes from all over the world kindly lent by people in the village, and with figures that had been made at a workshop the previous weekend. The village clergy blessed the cribs and also the Mary and Joseph figures which then set off on their 'Posada' round the village. Each night the figures passed from home to home, finally arriving at the Village Crib Blessing on Christmas Eve.
