There are several ways to give financially to the work of the church:
- donate online via the secure Dona platform - put money into the weekly collection or into the donation box in the church vestibule -set up a Standing Order, or make a one-off bank payment. (Contact the Treasurer for details – see our Contacts page)
If you are a taxpayer, you can also complete a ‘Gift Aid declaration’ so that the church can claim an additional 25% gift aid on top of your donations.
Eco Fund Through our Eco Fund we are raising £100k towards insulation and solar panels for the church building. We are making making the building more energy efficient and less reliant on fossil fuels, so that it is more economical to run, and better for the planet. We have now raised over £40k through donations from congregation members, community fundraising events and small grants. We are very grateful for external donations from Hathersage Jumblies, Hathersage Parish Charities, Hathersage News, the Duke of Devonshire Charitable Trust, and the Better Derbyshire Dales Fund (which is funded by Derbyshire County Council Public Health, Derbyshire Dales District Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group.)
We received an expert energy efficiency survey in 2022 to help us draw up a prioritised plan. We are completing the work stage-by-stage as we raise funds. So far we have: switched to LED bulbs throughout the building; added ceiling insulation in the church hall; draught-proofed internal doors; added ceiling insulation in the church and side rooms; replaced our draughty wooden entry doors with new close-fitting aluminium doors.
Next steps will be: external insualtion of the flat-roof area; internal secondary glazing on heritage windows; installing solar panels including a storage battery. Longer-term we want to work towards replacing the heating system with renewable energy.
Please consider donating to help us make these changes.
